Every unit is an insulated steel container on the ground floor with 24/7 access, and the gate opens when you ring it from your registered phone.

About Tisbury

Tisbury is a large village west of Salisbury, with a population of 2,253 at the 2011 census, and a centre for communities around the upper River Nadder and the Vale of Wardour; the parish includes the hamlets of Upper Chicksgrove and Wardour. It is the largest settlement within the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the Tisbury Hoard of 114 bronze items, discovered in 2011, dates from the 9th to 8th century BC. By the Domesday Book of 1086 Tisseberie had 90 households and belonged to Shaftesbury Abbey, and the village’s 13th-century prosperity came from the quarries that supplied stone for Salisbury Cathedral.

Tisbury today

Pevsner called the parish church of St John the Baptist ‘the largest church in its part of Wiltshire’; the largest yew in its churchyard is over 1,000 years old, and Rudyard Kipling’s parents are buried there. The Nadder Centre, opened in 2016, has leisure facilities and the library, beside an open-air heated swimming pool — the only one of its type in Wiltshire — and the village holds an annual carnival, usually in September. The thatched tithe barn at Place Farm is now a gallery and arts centre, Tisbury station is on the West of England Main Line, and Old Wardour Castle stood in for Locksley Castle in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Moving in, clearing out or between homes — our Salisbury yard is about 30 minutes away.

From 40 to 160 sq ft

Three sizes of insulated steel container: 40 sq ft takes the contents of a studio flat, 80 sq ft a two-bedroom flat, and 160 sq ft — a 20-foot container — a three- or four-bedroom house or a small business’s stock and equipment, with room for a van-load of furniture and a walkway down the middle. Clearing a house, loft or garage in Tisbury? Pick the size and the move-in date that suit you, drive up to load — you can drive right up to many of our units, and the rest are a few steps from the end of a short row — and give two weeks’ notice when you’re done. Salisbury recycling centre is 150 metres down the road for anything you don’t keep. There’s no deposit and no long-term contract, and no minimum stay — but a minimum of two weeks’ rent at full price applies.

For stock, tools, equipment or archive boxes, every unit is on the ground floor with 24/7 access, and the gate works from anywhere — ring it from your phone to let a delivery driver in while you’re away. The 160 sq ft (20 ft) container takes a small business’s stock and equipment, and van hire is opposite the gate.
