From 40 to 160 sq ft

Three sizes of insulated steel container: 40 sq ft takes the contents of a studio flat, 80 sq ft a two-bedroom flat, and 160 sq ft — a 20-foot container — a three- or four-bedroom house or a small business’s stock and equipment, with room for a van-load of furniture and a walkway down the middle. Pick the size and the move-in date that suit you, drive up to load — you can drive right up to many of our units, and the rest are a few steps from the end of a short row — and give two weeks’ notice when you’re done. Salisbury recycling centre is 150 metres down the road for anything you don’t keep. There’s no deposit and no long-term contract. There’s no minimum stay: you can move in and out on the same day. The minimum charge is two weeks at the full weekly price, because two weeks is our notice period.

For stock, tools, equipment or archive boxes, every unit is on the ground floor with 24/7 access, and the gate works from anywhere — ring it from your phone to let a delivery driver in while you’re away. The 160 sq ft (20 ft) container takes a small business’s stock and equipment, and van hire is opposite the gate.

About Old Sarum

About Old Sarum

Old Sarum is the ruined and deserted site of the earliest settlement of Salisbury, on a hill just north of the modern city near the A345. Around 400 BC an Iron Age hillfort was built here, controlling the meeting of two trade paths and the River Avon; the Saxons later used it as a stronghold against the Vikings, and the Normans built a motte and bailey castle, a stone curtain wall and Old Sarum Cathedral, with a royal palace for King Henry I. As New Salisbury grew up around the new cathedral in the early 13th century the old town dwindled, and although it was effectively uninhabited by the 17th century it kept its Members of Parliament until the Reform Act 1832 — the most notorious of the rotten boroughs.

Old Sarum today

The monument — among the 26 English sites protected by the Ancient Monuments Protection Act of 1882 — is run by English Heritage, with a car park in the outer bailey, and a 2014 survey revealed its royal palace and the street plan of the medieval city. Old Sarum is also the name of the modern settlement north-east of the monument: around 800 homes, including Old Sarum Primary School, were built north of the Portway between 2008 and 2016, and from 2018 about 750 more at Longhedge Village, reached from the A345. Old Sarum Airfield, first developed as an aerodrome in 1917, has a single grass runway and a small business park along its northern edge.
